Experienced Doula Support for
Every Stage of Pregnancy, Birth, & Beyond

What Is a Doula?

“A doula is a trained professional who gives physical, emotional, and informational support to families before, during, and after childbirth.

They do not provide medical care. Instead, they focus on making sure the birthing person feels safe, empowered, and cared for.” ~ DONA International

Melanie Wachsman

Certified Birth & Postpartum Doula,
Prenatal Yoga Instructor, Lactation Educator
& Infant Care Specialist

“I am a certified birth and postpartum doula who has taught prenatal yoga for more than 10 years. I am also a lactation educator and a Gentle Sleep consultant. I offer doula services in the Los Angeles area including Santa Monica, Brentwood, Manhattan Beach, Sherman Oaks, Los Feliz and more.

My commitment as a doula is to ensure you have the birth you envision.

Whether your path includes meditation, medication or both, you can count on the birth to be what you design for you and your child’s birthing experience.”

Whether you are navigating this milestone on your own, with a partner, or with family members, having an experienced, certified professional by your side brings true peace of mind to your birth experience.

While a doula does not deliver the baby, my role is to empower new parents with evidence-based guidance on pregnancy and delivery along with newborn care, healing and emotional wellness.

How Does Prenatal Yoga Support Labor and Delivery?

Labor is a physical act. With more than a decade as a pre-natal yoga teacher, I encourage expecting parents to attend yoga classes for pregnancy because they are designed to build strength and endurance.

During labor, I purposefully include exercises that ease the mind in moments of intensity as a powerful tool that can be used to support child birth and the life that follows.

Prenatal yoga provides a wonderful opportunity for women to create community with other pregnant women.

Besides my commitment to sharing ways to support your body during pregnancy, postpartum, and into parenthood, I offer certified doula support and infant care to guide my clients smoothly through it all.
